Oscar de la Renta perfectly summed up the atmosphere of the 2010 Houston Chronicle Best-Dressed Luncheon and Neiman Marcus Fashion Presentation benefiting the March of Dimes on Wednesday.
“Houston has always been home to extraordinary-looking women who, luckily for me, love to wear beautiful clothes,” said the designer.
De la Renta flew into Houston from the Dominican Republic for the event.
A quick glance around the Westin Galleria ballroom confirmed that such women — many, of course, sporting their favorite de la Renta outfits —accounted for the sellout crowd that raised about $370,000 for the March of Dimes’ work to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
That cause resonated with one of the honorees, Katherine Le, and the mother-daughter co-chair team of Sheridan Williams and Kristen Nix.
Le and Nix are both expecting for the first time.
After Best-Dressed Hall-of-Famers walked the runway, the 2010 honorees enjoyed their moment on the catwalk.
And then everyone enjoyed a look at de la Renta’s knockout fall collection, which left no doubt that Houston’s love affair with Oscar won’t end anytime soon.
